The processing deal ties in to Dallas-based AT&T reselling Apriva LLC’s AprivaPay and AprivaPay Professional mobile POS services directly to merchants under a program announced July 7 (see story).  Atlanta-based WorldPay will set up the merchant accounts that AT&T sells, Kim O’Connor, WorldPay vice president of business development, tells PaymentsSource.

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Apriva introduced the two mobile-POS services in January 2010 (see story).

Merchants may use AprivaPay on smartphones, such as Apple Inc.’s iPhone, and AprivaPay Professional on devices using one of several versions of Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Mobile operating systems, according to AT&T’s website.

Besides typical merchant-account fees, merchants also pay $14.95 per month for AprivaPay and $19.95 per month for AprivaPay Professional when purchased from AT&T, according to the telco’s website.

Craft show operators and home-services firms are among the typical users of the service, O’Connor says. “We are also seeing restaurants using the [service] for catering and delivery, and other types of traditionally brick-and-mortar merchants,” she says.
