Intuit Inc. has secured another partnership with a telecommunication company to sell its GoPayment software application and card reader.
AT&T Inc.’s nationwide sales force and call centers are now making available the Mountain View, Calif.-based company’s GoPayment app, which enables business owners to accept credit cards via smartphones or tablet devices, Intuit announced Nov. 7
Intuit made a similar deal with Verizon Wireless in August (
AT&T customers may obtain a GoPayment reader for free with activation of a GoPayment account. The card reader, which sells for $29.97, attaches to a merchant’s smartphone or tablet device through the audio jack.
The basic GoPayment service comes with no monthly transaction fees, but merchants pay 2.7% of each swiped transaction sale. Opting to pay a monthly payment fee of $12.95 reduces the rate to 1.7% of each sale, Intuit says, suggesting businesses that process more than $1,000 in transactions per month and want multiple employees to process payments using one GoPayment account might prefer that plan.
GoPayment applications are available for Apple Inc.’s iPhone, T-Mobile Inc.’s Android phones and Blackberry Inc. phones, as well as the Apple iPad and the Motorola Mobility Inc.’s Xoom 3G tablet, the Intuit says.
Intuit GoPayment comes with automatic pre-approval for AT&T customers, AT&T said in a statement. Customers may purchase the system as part of AT&T’s All For Less package, which features wireless, landline and broadband Internet services, website hosting, technical support, and data backup.
