Online movie ticketing app Atom Tickets is expanding its pre-order food and beverage service to include AMC Theatres in addition to Regal Theatres.

The enhanced service, which begins rolling out today 28 AMC locations across the country, is designed to allow customers to avoid standing in regular concession lines. Atom stuck a similar union with Regal in December 2015.

"We're thrilled to expand our partnership with AMC and offer the full Atom Tickets experience to their moviegoers," said Matthew Bakal, chairman and co-founder of Atom. "In addition to buying tickets and inviting friends through the app, AMC guests will have the ability to pre-order their favorite snacks and refreshments and have them ready upon arrival."

AMC executive vp of operations John McDonald added, "Through the AMC app, we've had great success offering our guests the convenience ordering their food and drinks ahead of arriving at the movie, and we're excited that our guests can now enjoy the full Atom Tickets mobile experience by incorporating the option to pre-order."

First launching in summer 2015, Atom is designed to increase moviegoing among friends and groups by polling preferences and suggesting times that are good for everyone. And if theaters consent, discounts could kick in depending upon the number of tickets bought by a given group.

Lionsgate, along with Disney and Fox, are among those backing the Santa Monica-based Atom, founded by Ameesh Paleja, who serves as CEO, and Bakal.
