BMI Bank on Nov. 1 launched a suite of antifraud and other credit card security features, the Bahrain-based bank noted in a statement.
As part of the initiative, the bank’s credit cardholders will receive free, immediate SMS text alerts each time they use their cards to make purchases. Moreover, the bank will cover all purchases they make using their credit cards against loss or theft through free purchase-protection insurance, and it will offer them secured-wallet insurance against any fraudulent transactions.
“BMI Bank was among the first banks in Bahrain to introduce chip-enabled credit cards with smart technology in 2009, providing customers with a much higher level of security against fraud as well as quicker transaction time,” Jamal Al-Hazeem, the bank’s CEO, noted in the statement. “With the introduction of these new features, including real-time SMS alerts when the credit card is used, our customers will truly be in control.”
BMI offers Visa-branded classic and gold credit cards and a Sapphire version for its premium banking customers, the issuer noted on its website. The bank also offers a cobranded Geant Hypermarket Bahrain credit card and a Diners Club International card.
The bank did not respond to request for comment.
