Barclays India Adding 30 More ATMs To Its Network

Barclays Global Retail Bank India will add 30 ATMs to its network of 17 machines already deployed throughout parts of the country, according to a bank official who requested anonymity.

The bank is adding the ATMs in the cities of Mumbai and Delhi, the official says. “The move is designated to increase the bank’s presence and visibility,” he says. “The choice of cities reveals that the bank is primarily going after the urban, premium segment.”

Barclays Global will begin this process this month, the official adds. The bank deploys ATMs in India manufactured by Wincor Nixdorf and issues Visa-branded debit and credit cards in India.

In April, Barclays Global linked its network of ATMs with National Financial Switch, the country’s largest network with 55,000 shared ATMs (see story).
