Braintree developed a plug-in software patch that allows Magento Enterprise and Magento Community users to process credit card payments through the Braintree payment gateway, Chicago-based Braintree stated in a press release.

Magento’s online merchants now have the option to use Braintree services, particularly its credit card data vault storage designed to reduce Payment Card Industry data-security standard testing and costs for merchants, the company stated.

Braintree, which processes more than $4 billion in credit card transactions annually, provides payment-gateway services for such online merchants as LivingSocial Ltd., 37signals LLC, OpenTable Inc., GitHub Inc. and Engine Yard Inc.

“This [plug-in] offering will give thousands of e-commerce businesses new and better options when it comes to payment processing,” Bill Ready, Braintree CEO, stated in the release.

The Braintree credit card vault also allows merchants to create a “card-on-file” feature, which helps increase sales conversion rates at checkout, Ready said.
