The company, whose U.S. operations are based in Doral, Fla., first announced its intentions to enter the U.S. market in July (see story).

“After more than 30 years of work in Brazil and, ultimately, throughout South America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa, the timing is ideal for Itautec to enter the U.S market,” Marcio Weltman Dvorkin, Itautec America general manager, noted in a press release. “The U.S. fleet is aging, so financial institutions are seeking new, multifunction ATMs.”

The Adattis Intelligent Deposit ATMs support bulk cash and bulk check acceptance, image capturing and touch screens, and a customizable hardware and software package, which will simplify how U.S. credit unions and banks satisfy the forthcoming American With Disabilities Act regulations, according to Dvorkin. Those regulations pertain to speech-communication and other modifications needed for U.S. ATMs to satisfy the needs of the visually and hearing impaired.

“There currently are 420,000 ATMs across America–many are past their prime. And by March 15, 2012, all must have voice guidance, Braille-instruction labels, and keyboard and height standards along with other ADA requirements,” Dvorkin noted.

The company plans to debut a U.S. prototype of the Adattis Intelligent Deposit Feb. 22 at the 2011 ATM Industry Association conference at the Doral Resort and Spa in Miami.
