Cardtronics closes $464M deal for DirectCash Payments

Cardtronics has completed its acquisition of Canadian ATM operator DirectCash Payments.

The $464 million deal includes 17.5 million common shares sold by DirectCash to Cardtronics at $19 per share, as well as some debt prepayment expenses, according to a Jan. 6 news release.

Cardtronics has said it plans to add 25,000 ATMs to its network that DirectCash currently operates in Canada, Mexico, the U.K. and New Zealand. It also gains 3,500 ATMs in Australia that DirectCash acquired from First Data Corp. in a separate transaction that closed in September.

The newly acquired ATMs boost Cardtronics’ network presence 11% to 225,000 machines.
