Cardtronics paid $160 million in cash for Welch, under an agreement that was announced in July.

"Now that the transaction is completed, we're looking forward to integrating the two companies and delivering greater value to our customers through an even broader portfolio of ATM services and solutions," said the Steve Rathgaber, chief executive at Cardtronics, in an Oct. 7 press release.

The Welch acquisition adds just over 26,000 ATMs to Cardtronics' portfolio, which now includes 111,150 kiosks.

Cardtronics has purchased several  smaller ATM providers in recent years, including Cardpoint, Aptus Group and Merrimak ATM Group.
