Chase earlier had removed foreign-transaction fees on six other credit cards, most recently for the Sapphire Premium credit card (see story).

The Marriot Rewards Premier card, which has no annual fee for the first year, enables cardholders to earn Marriott Rewards points toward vacations, airline miles or merchandise, Chase noted in a news release. Cardholders pay an annual fee of $65 after the first year.

Cardholders earn five points for every dollar they spend with the card at a Marriott location, two points per dollar spent on eligible airline, dining and rental card purchases, and one point per dollar spent anywhere else.

New cardholders receive 30,000 bonus points and will earn a free night at a category one through four Marriott property after their first purchase, according to Chase. Marriott categorizes its properties based location and hotel type.

The card also offers such incentives as additional elite night credits, card-anniversary benefits, and the opportunity to receive 15,000 bonus points after redeeming points for a seven-night stay at a category seven or eight hotel.
