Amazon.com Inc. has launched its Checkout by Amazon payments service in Germany, the company announced April 27.

The service enables online shoppers to use the payment information already stored online with Amazon.com when shopping at other retailers’ websites. Thomann Cyberstore, an online vendor of musical instruments, is one of the first merchants to go live with the service in Germany.

“Customers can simply choose the delivery addresses and bank information from their Amazon account and Thomann will handle the rest,” Sven Schoderbock, Thomann Cyberstore’s head of marketing, wrote on Amazon.com’s payments blog. “It’s as easy as it sounds.”

Christine Maier, the online marketing manager for HOH Home of Hardware, another Amazon client, said that “working with Checkout by Amazon … will also attract new customers.”

Prior to going live in Germany, Checkout by Amazon most recently expanded to the U.K., where it went live at the end of March.
