Citibank NA Pakistan and Orix Leasing Pakistan Ltd. signed an agreement earlier this weekextending their collaboration on point-of-sale payment terminals, Orix announced recently.
“The original deal was signed between Citibank and Orix in 2003,” an Orix official tells PaymentsSource. “Under this agreement, Citibank and Orix agreed to a deal which would see the bank use Orix’s POS network to service its credit card customers.”
With this deal, however, Orix’s network will accept all Visa and MasterCard credit cards in Pakistan, and not just Citibank’s, the official says.
Orix provides card terminals for credit, debit and prepaid cards through its point-of-sale network. The Karachi-based company has installed more than 10,000 POS terminals that operate in more than 200 cities and towns throughout Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
