Co-Op, Cardtronics Renew Surcharge-Free ATM Agreement

IMGCAP(1)]

Co-op Financial Services' credit-union members will continue to have surcharge-free access to ATMs housed in 7-Eleven convenience, Costco warehouse and Walgreen drug stores, according to a five-year agreement the companies announced today. The two companies initially began working together in 2005. The agreement provides members of Co-op's credit unions surcharge-free access to 5,500 ATMs in 7-Eleven stores nationwide, 340 ATMs in Costco stores and 670 machines in Walgreen stores. About 2,200 of the machines deployed in 7-Eleven stores accept deposits. Convenient access to surcharge-free ATMs gives the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based network's credit-union members a competitive edge in attracting new participants, says Stan Hollen, president and CEO of Co-op Financial. Co-op's members are prolific users of 7-Eleven's ATMs, as more than 3.2 million Co-op transactions occur daily at retailer's machines. Co-op transaction volume for ATMs deployed at Walgreen and Costco stores was not immediately available, a Co-op spokesperson tells ATM&Debit News, a CardLine sister publication.
