Those who receive the calls are being advised to not provide any financial or personal information or send money or make payment authorization over the phone, Judicial Department officials said. Consumers receiving calls regarding debts allegedly related to court cases have the option of either contacting the clerk's office with the court in question to try to verify the call or calling local law enforcement to investigate.

The Judicial Department did not release any names of the phony companies or individuals being used in the scam.
