Trustwave, a Chicago-based payment security firm, says it has updated its TrustKeeper compliance tool to version 3.0, which simplifies the security assessment process for smaller merchants. A Trustwave spokesperson says the new version of the Web portal uses a merchant's response to populate relevant forms that are used to assess the merchant's data-security risk. Merchants also can install software onto their point-of-sale equipment that can gather technical data, which is used to assess the risk. Once all the information is collected, TrustKeeper then informs the merchant if his point-of-sale system is compliant with the Payment Card Industry data security standard. If not compliant, it then provides recommendations to mitigate any issues.
