The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka has called for the appointment of a chief executive from Sri Lanka's central bank, an auctioneer and auditors to oversee the liquidation of Golden Key Credit Card Co. Ltd., Lanka Business Online reported Monday. The card firm, part of the troubled Ceylinco Consolidated financial-services group, collapsed late last year following charges that Golden Key had accepted public deposits without being a licensed financial institution approved by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The court reportedly also called for the appointment of a revenue officer to collect federal taxes on any deposits recovered from former Golden Key depositors. In a related action, some depositors had until Monday to explain to court officials why they had not paid government taxes on interest earned from those deposits at Golden Key, the publication reported.
