CPNI Inc., a Toronto, Canada-based software company, will offer the latest version of its mobile-payments and mobile-banking software to financial institutions that includes an ASP model for core processors, the company announced Monday. The ASP model enables small and mid-sized financial institutions to offer their customers mobile-banking products, according to a statement. CPNI is in discussions with four of the top 10 banks in the United States to use the service, according to a company spokesperson. The Phone Authorized Transfer software enables users to perform person-to-person payments, make remote purchases from merchants and access banking services. Users can send funds by entering recipients' phone numbers on their mobile devices. Funds are linked to a checking, savings or credit card account, according to a statement. CPNI also plans to introduce the service to financial institutions in Africa, Europe and Latin America, according to Pat McMonagle, the company's director for U.S. technology and networks.
