Danvers Bancorp Inc. has begun using Metavante Technologies Inc.'s Points2U Plus, a merchant-funded program that assigns "relationship rewards" points across multiple banking product lines, Metavante announced Monday. This is an enhancement to Danversbank's 2006 deployment of another Metavante rewards program, which is issuer-funded, the Milwaukee-based company says. Danvers, Mass.-based Danversbank plans to give points to debit cardholders who use other banking services and to give extra points for seasonal promotions or for spending at certain retailers. Cardholders can earn up to seven points per $1 spent for signature-debit purchases through Points2U Plus. National retailers participating include Advanced Auto Parts, Pier 1 Imports and Domino's Pizza, a Metavante spokesperson writes in an e-mail to CardLine. Danversbank issues debit MasterCards. "Points2U Plus provides the capacity to tailor Danversbank's rewards offering to effectively create the customer loyalty that rewards programs are meant to deliver," John Carroll, Danversbank senior vice president of operations, said in a press release.
