Datacard Group has launched its SuperCAT II card encoder, which enables bank customers to select or change a card’s PIN at a branch, the company announced April 18.
The Minnetonka, Minn.-based vendor’s card-encoding device works with Datacard’s CardWizard instant issuance software to support the full reissuance of a card at a branch if a customer’s earlier card was lost or stolen. The encoder works with magnetic stripe cards, EMV-compliant chip cards and contactless cards.
“Cards that are instantly issued with a customer-selected PIN elevate to ‘top-of-wallet’ status and are used more often,” Ron Zanotti, Datacard senior vice president of financial instant issuance, in a press release.
Being able to reissue a card or change its PIN on demand also reduces costs and risks associated with mailing a new card or PIN to the end user, Datacard said. Consumers may use a card and PIN activated with the encoder immediately.
