Discover Financial Services dropping the foreign-currency fee on its cards, the card issuer announced Nov. 8.
As of Nov. 6, the Riverwoods, Ill.-based company said it no longer will charge the 2% fee. Foreign transaction fees usually help banks increase revenue.
Discover's decision to drop the fee comes at a time when its customers are increasingly sensitive to bank fees, a spokesperson said in an email.
Earlier this year, JPMorgan Chase & Co. eliminated the foreign transaction fee on its Sapphire Premium cards, giving cardholders a break on its 3% fee.
