Discover Partners with Brazil's Elo on International Payments

Discover Financial Services and Brazilian credit card brand Elo have formed an agreement to enable acceptance of Elo cards for purchases and cash access beyond Brazil.

Through the agreement, Elo Global Cards will now be accepted in more than 185 countries and territories through the Discover Global Network, according to an Aug. 20 news release. The companies will also work together to integrate D-PAS, Discovers EMV tool, into Elo cards for improved security.

Elo is one of the largest credit card brands in Brazil and was founded by Brazilian banks Bradesco, Caixa and Banco do Brasil. Elo will continue using its own proprietary application for Brazilian transactions.
