Discover Financial Services is offering cardholders 5% cash back on up to $800 in travel and restaurant purchases from January until March 31, the company announced Jan. 26.
After reaching the $800 spending limit, cardholders still may earn up to 1% back each time they use their cards. During March, cardholders also can earn 5% in cash-back rewards on up to $200 in grocery and drugstore purchases, according to Discover.

As with other quarters, Discover this quarter is enabling cardholders to earn 5% to 20% cash back when buying through Shop Discover, the company’s online shopping mall. New retailers include GolfSmith, Dell Small Business and Viking River Cruises, Traci tells PaymentsSource.
Discover typically supports its 5% Cashback Bonus deals through television advertising and through cardholder communications channels, such as direct mail and the Internet, she says.
