At least 2,500 credit card customers of Mashreq Bank have used the Dubai-based institution’s debt-counseling service, Mashreq Assist, since its launch in September, the financial institution says in a statement.
The credit card customers represent the vast majority of the approximately 2,800 customers who have contacted the counseling service, the bank says. Most of the credit card customers wanted to restructure their debts.
“There are customers who have difficulties in making the minimum payment amount due on their credit card and, therefore, need assistance in order make their monthly payments affordable,” the bank says in a statement.
