Global payments company Emergent Payments has added numerous executives to its senior leadership.
The hiring wave includes PayPal veteran Joseph Podulka, who will now serve as Emergent's chief financial officer, and former Visa senior director Pawan Chawla, who will be the payments companys vice president of merchant solutions and strategy.
Additionally, Emergent has hired Rob Freedman as its business development director. Freedman previously was a business development manager at Worldpay.
Podulka comes to Emergent having previously been head of finance for PayPal New Ventures and PayPal Europe. He most recently worked as CFO at Hearst, which operates the San Francisco Chronicle and SFGate.com.
"This is an exciting time for Emergent Payments as we grow the business to address the $1.7T revenue opportunity in emerging markets for our customers," said Mitch Davis, Emergent Payments' chief executive, in an Aug. 20 news release. "With over 20 years' payments and e-commerce experience between [Podulka, Chawla and Freedman], we are well positioned to increase our market share in the global payments space."
