EProcessing Network LLC, a Houston-based online payment gateway company, says its ePNJPOS payment software now supports VeriFone Holdings Inc.’s PINpad 1000SE PIN pad.
The ePNJPOS software enables the device to know when to ask a consumer if the payment card is a credit or debit card, and merchants can use the product to steer consumers to use PIN debit, Steve Sotis, eProcessing president, tells PaymentsSource. PIN debit costs merchants less to accept than credit or signature-debit cards.
EProcessing has integrated the software into PIN pads from other payment-terminal companies, but none have been as affordable as the VeriFone 1000SE, Sotis says. “I have seen them listed for as low as $55, plus an $15 injection fee and shipping,” which adds up to less than $100, Sotis says, noting other PIN pads may cost two or three times that much. Encryption keys are loaded into PIN pads in a process called “injection” to ensure PINs are securely sent online during a transaction.
