The credit union reported that some members had money stolen.

ALDI says tampered payment card terminals were placed at checkouts in some of its stores in the Rochester-area from June 1 to Aug. 31. The “skimmers” also were discovered at stores in Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia.

Those terminals could record a customer’s name, account number and PIN.

ESL officials say they started noticing the fraudulent activity in their system over the weekend. They are in the process of sending out letters to members.
