Wendy's/Arby's Group Inc., an Atlanta-based fast-food restaurant chain, Tuesday announced that NCR Corp. will supply point-of-sale payment terminals for the firm's 6,600 franchise-owned Wendy's International Inc. restaurants in the United States and in 21 foreign countries. Under the deal, Wendy's franchise owners can order the NCR RealPOS 70XRT, an integrated touch-screen point-of-sale terminal with an optional biometric-fingerprint reader. Owners can deploy the machine in restaurant's drive-through window or at the front counter. The terminal reduces energy costs up to 50% compared with previous systems because of Intel processors and a high-efficiency power supply, Cameron Smith, an NCR spokesperson, tells ATM&Debit News, a CardLine sister publication. NCR is the world's largest ATM manufacturer based on annual shipments.
