Through this partnership, First Data will provide Latin American merchants with the ReD's Red Shield product, which was designed to detect and eliminate CNP fraud across multiple payment types. The product combines rules and analytics, a global fraud database and fully automated processes.

The companies aim to address the rise in e-commerce fraud that results from tightening up security at the point of sale from Mexico's adoption of EMV-chip cards.

"Heightened consumer awareness and the implementation of EMV for in-store transactions in Mexico is driving e-commerce merchants to seek enhanced fraud prevention solutions to protect themselves and their customers," Flor Bicain, ReD's customer and partner director for Latin America, said in a Dec. 10 press release.

ReD was acquired in August by payment technology company ACI Worldwide for $205 million.
