The Claim Your Youth campaign is designed to improve teen budgeting, money management, and credit responsibility, and teach financial literacy skills. The card gives parents control and convenience in tracking their teenager’s spending, receiving card balances and transaction information via text messages to their phones. It also allows them to load funds to the card account at any time from a home computer.

“We know teens love financial freedom but need a bit of help staying within boundaries,” said Sylvia Lyons, New Mexico League president.

The program is part of the New Mexico League’s “young up” marketing campaign aimed at recruiting youth to credit unions. It also includes the Kirby Kangaroo Club for youngsters, CU Succeed Teen Network and the CU Thru financial literacy online programs.

PSCU is based in St. Petersburg, Fla.
