Florida Credit Union’s Debit Card Program Raises $90,000 For Local Schools

Through its MyCFE4Schools debit card partnership program, CFE Federal Credit Union, formerly known as Central Florida Educators Credit Union, recently donated $90,000 to the Orange, Seminole and Osceola County school boards to support funding of school programs.

This program enables CFE members to select a custom debit card that supports the school district of their choice. When cardholders use the debit card for signature-based transactions, CFE sets aside funds in a separate account for donation to the districts based on card use for the year.

Since the 2009 inception of the program, the $1.3-billion, Lake Mary, Fla.-based credit union has donated a total of $166,500.

Each year as card use has increased, so has the donation amount. In 2011, Orange County Public Schools received $53,200, the School District of Osceola received $22,400 and the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools received $14,400.
