Freedom Credit Union last week announced an alternative to new debit fees. The $500-million credit union said it will pay members $5 each month they make a purchase with their debit card.
With the Warminister, Penn.-based credit union’s “It Pays to Switch” campaign, which is being featured on billboards in and around Philadelphia, members can earn $60 annually when they switch to Freedom’s Free Interest Checking Account. The credit union also is promoting the campaign through direct mail, search engine advertisements and social media updates on Facebook and Twitter.
The credit union’s debit card is included free with the opening of a Free Interest Checking Account, which carries no monthly fees and includes a complimentary set of checks.
