Social-networking site Multiply has inked a deal for settling online payments with G-Xchange Inc., a statement from the telecom operator said. G-Xchange is a wholly owned subsidiary of Philippines-based Globe Telecom.
“Multiply subscribers will be able to upgrade their accounts through Gcash, G-Xchange’s micropayment service,” a G-Xchange spokesperson tells PaymentsSource.
Gcash is a mobile-commerce service that enables Globe Telecom subscribers to use text messages instead of cash or payment cards to facilitate funds transfers, donations, loan settlements, salary disbursements, and bill, product and service payments.
To make a Gcash payment, subscribers first must click on the “Pay with Gcash” button at the networking site page for account settings and enter their Gcash mobile number, according to the spokesperson.
The subscriber then receives a text message for authenticating the transaction back, and the payment is billed to the subscriber’s mobile-phone bill.
Multiply, a social networking site primarily used to share media, has 5 million subscribers, according to the spokesperson.
