Global Payments Asia-Pacific Ltd. has expanded China UnionPay card acceptance to Taiwan, enabling mainland Chinese consumers to pay for products in Taiwan with their China UnionPay payment cards at merchants that process transactions with Global Payments, according to the processor. Global Payments Asia-Pacific is a joint venture between Global Payments Inc. and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corp. Ltd. Accepting China UnionPay cards will enable Taiwanese merchants "to enhance their service to the growing number of mainland tourists," Ian Courtnage, Global Payments Asia-Pacific president, said in a statement. Global Payments serves merchants in 11 countries and territories across Asia. A Global Payments representative did not return requests for comment by CardLine Global deadline.
