The information you need to start your day, from PaymentsSource and around the Web:

A new crop of bills
Google has followed its AI-driven photo software with a new function that adjusts photos of printed items, such as receipts.

A particular use case is receipts, which can be "cleaned up" through cropping, removing background clutter and other adjustments accessible via on-screen editing tools, reports Engadget.

Receipt image capture has existed for years, though Engadget reports the practice has become particularly popular for money management and budget apps, which rely on images of client receipts for processing.

The power of titanium
Apple Card may spur more usage of Apple Pay due to consumer comfort with metal.

Eighty percent of consumers say they would be more likely to use Apple Pay on an iPhone or Apple Watch if they also had the physical card, according to research from Business Insider.

That could boost Apple Pay, which is passed a billion quarterly transactions in third quarter 2018 — though only about a third of iPhone users have activated the app.

Casting call
Shortly after hiring several blockchain payment experts from Chainspace, Facebook is seeking to deepen its bench as it plots a possible cryptocurrency.

Facebook has posted a job opening for production managers, a business operations manager, data scientists and a growth product manager, reports Coindesk. All of this follows former Messenger boss David Marcus' move to head Facebook's blockchain unit last year.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has also frequently discussed blockchain and uses for cryptocurrency over the past year, sparking rumors that Facebook is going to launch its own cryptocurrency.

Tapped out
Researchers have found a next gen version of keylogging that gleans characters from virtual keyboards from fingertrap sounds.

The device's microphones snoop for sound waves, which correspond to a user's location on a screen, reports VentureBeat, adding this can pick up usernames, passwords, PINs and other personal information and authentication.

While keyboard acoustic attacks have existed for some time, this new strain of attack is particularly advanced because it attacks soft onscreen keyboards.
