Google Launches AdWords Credit Card for U.K. After U.S. Test

Google is extending AdWords Business Credit, a product-specific credit card created as an easier way to pay for online advertising campaigns, to the U.K. after testing it for over a year in the U.S.

“We hope AdWords Business Credit will give Small and Medium Sized Businesses more flexibility — some ‘extra credit’ — so they're able to focus on growing their businesses even further,” says Brent Callinicos, VP treasurer for Google, in an Oct. 7 blog post.

Google tested the credit card in the U.S. in July, 2011. After the pilot, feedback from more than 1,400 businesses that participated was strongly positive, Google says.

Almost three-fourths of respondents said in a survey their businesses use the AdWords Business Credit as their primary AdWords payment, according to the blog post.

The cards can be used only for AdWords advertising purchases. Google partnered with the Barclays Group to issue the MasterCard cards in the U.K. AdWords Business Credit will have a variable 11.9% APR in the U.K. with no annual fees.

Google also partnered with Comenity Capital Bank to issue more cards in the U.S. this year.
