Los Angeles-based Groundwork is launching automated payment and notification software for youth sports coaches and parents facing those types of payment collection challenges.
Groundwork helps track payments by team and player in one dashboard so that payments are never lost or forgotten, addressing a major pain point with coaches, especially the 5% to 10% of youth sports coaches who are never paid back, Groundwork co-founder Bill Lennon said in a June 6 press release.
"Groundwork is about more than just accepting payments," Lennon said. "It's about keeping parents in the loop and making participation extremely convenient for them."
Teams that utilize Groundwork pay the company a 2% fee, plus 30 cents, and can set it up for parents to pay fees all at once or throughout a sports season on an auto-pay plan. Parents can pay using their bank account or through use of a card, for an additional fee, Groundwork said.
Groundwork automates all payment communications, including reminders or inquiring about overdue payments.
Real-time payments reports from Groundwork allow a coach to monitor the collection process and be aware of who is not current with payments.
