The Edge program allows restaurant staff to receive paychecks and employer-sponsored incentives on a general purpose reloadable prepaid card. I2c’s prepaid card payment processing platform will serve as the system of record for Edge accounts, and will enable new features such as card-linked offers and mobile alerts. The card will operate on the Discover network.

"By moving to i2c's platform, we'll be able to provide Edge cardholders with new features to help them better manage their money," said David Gilbert, president of the Hospitality Group at Heartland Payment Systems, in a release. "In addition, we'll be taking advantage of i2c's configurability and on-demand reporting capabilities to optimize and grow the program."

Heartland has also targeted the restaurant industry through distribution partnerships, such as its recent work with SCVNGR's LevelUp mobile payment system.

I2c was recently mentioned in an Aite Group report as a potential acquisition target for prepaid card processors looking to build scale
