Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Hypercom would not say why Gaillard, previously chief operating officer of Thales e-Transactions, a France-based POS-terminal maker that Hypercom bought in 2008, is leaving.

In a Dec. 16 U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Hypercom says Gaillard, who held his senior vice president position since April 2009, tendered his resignation Dec. 13.

Gaillard will receive $480,000 as a lump-sum payment and a monthly payment of $14,000 during a three-month noncompete period, Hypercom says.

Gaillard began working at Thales in July 2001, having been CEO of its navigation business unit, Magellan, before moving to the e-Transactions POS-terminal unit in February 2007. Hypercom acquired the Thales unit in 2008.
