India's ICICI Bank Ltd., which last year opened its first branch in the United States, has joined the Allpoint surcharge-free ATM network, both companies announced. The agreement follows ICICI'S opening of a branch in New York to serve Indian nationals moving to the U.S. The Allpoint network has 37,000 surcharge-free ATMs worldwide, including 35,000 in the U.S. and 2,500 in the UK. Cardtronics Inc., a U.S.-based ATM independent sales organization, owns Allpoint, which is negotiating with an undisclosed number of banks in Asia, Canada and Europe about joining the network, Ben Psillas, the company's president and CEO, tells ATM&Debit News, a CardLine Global sister publication. Allpoint expects to make an announcement within six months regarding network expansion, Psillas says.
