Bank Central Asia is deploying 283 ATMs and 200 indoor transaction kiosks from Wincor Nixdorf AG, the Germany-based ATM vendor says in a statement. The Indonesia-based bank hopes to expand its self-service network and move more noncash transactions from its ATMs to indoor transaction kiosks to reduce transaction costs and lines at ATMs, Wincor says. The bank has deployed nearly 1,100 Wincor kiosks in Indonesia since 2003. Customers can register for electronic-banking accounts, pay bills and transfer funds using the kiosks, Wincor says. Transaction costs for the bank are 30% less for kiosks than for ATMs, a bank spokesperson says in the statement. The bank has some 7 million customer accounts and a network of more than 5,700 ATMs.
