Ingenico, Bleep Partner for Euro 2016 Pop-up POS

Payments company Ingenico and POS manufacturer Bleep are collaborating on payments services for pop-up stores this summer at the 2016 European Football Championship in France.

The partnership is a revival of one from the London Olympics in 2012, where the two companies successfully built a “fast, secure, reliable and easy to use POS system to support very high peak volume demands,” John Wellman, founder and CEO of Bleep, said in a June 16 news release.

“We had to build a system from the ground up that was fast to deploy and without any single point of failure that would impact anything other than a single point of sale,” he added.

There will be 50 pop-up stores across France in Nice, Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Saint-Etienne, Lille, Lens and Paris’ Stade de France. The event is expected to draw about 2.5 million fans traveling into France.

The Pop-up POS system is built from a combination of Bleep’s POS system and Ingenico’s card payment terminals. Bleep will provide in-field support and training for those operating the system in each of the 10 locations through the end of the Euro 2016 final, July 10.
