Ingenico ePayments Scores Deal for Jay Z’s Music-Streaming Service

Jay Z’s music-streaming service Tidal has selected Ingenico ePayments as the platform to accept payments in 45 countries.

The partnership, announced May 4, leverages Ingenico ePayments’ new Connect platform, a set of tools e-commerce merchants may add to securely accept online payments across 150 different currencies, the companies said.

Tidal began using Ingenico’s service with the release of Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” album on April 23, according to a press release.

Tidal, which promotes “high fidelity” downloads of music and other entertainment media, enables users to make purchases within its website and app using a variety of payment options appropriate to local markets. Individual music track prices start at $2.98; albums begin at $17.99. The site accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, PayPal and vouchers, which act as gift cards, the companies said.

Tidal launched in 2014 and last year Project Panther Ltd., owned by music impresario Shawn “Jay Z” Carter, purchased it. Tidal has a catalog of 35 million songs and 85,000 videos on sale. Tidal reportedly has 3 million subscribers.
