Ingenico Group Gains Full Ownership of Roam

Ingenico Group, a French maker of payment terminals, has completed its acquisition of Roam.

Roam's mobile commerce platform, which consists of mobile card readers, mobile point of sale applications and a mobile payments engine, is now officially part of Ingenico Mobile Solutions. Ingenico previously owned a majority stake in the Boston-based company.

"With 100% of Roam, we will accelerate the deployment of a global and integrated mobile offer, enabling merchants to increasingly engage with their customers," Jacques Guerin, executive vice president of smart terminals and mobile solutions at Ingenico, said in a Jan. 20 press release.

Ingenico appointed David Szczepanksi as the new chief operating officer for the company's Mobile Solutions group. He will be responsible for overseeing Ingenico Mobile Solutions' infrastructure and processes to support overall growth. Szczepanksi was previously vice president of operations for Ingenico Group where he implemented initiatives such as new field services capabilities.

Ingenico also said that Roam's United States sales team will join Ingenico Group North America. Chris Dismukes was named senior vice president of mobile U.S. sales for Ingenico Group North America, where he will monitor sales associates to see if they are expanding the company's market share within the mobile payments space. Dismukes has been in the payments industry for 25 years, and was most recently head of sales with Equinox Payments.
