Ingenico SA’s Incendo Online product has become the first “smart client” system to comply with the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council’s PIN Transaction Security standards, the company announced Oct. 3.
The product connects Ingenico payment terminals through a specific Web browser to payment and value-added services on remote servers, the France-based company said in a press release.
The product alleviates the need to embed content in a terminal by storing it “in the cloud,” the company said. The challenge was to bring the product to a security level at least equivalent to embedded applications, it said.
To validate the product’s security, Ingenico submitted Incendo Online to an undisclosed laboratory specializing in security audits for payment and terminals. The audit showed the product complies with the PIN Transaction Security standards, Stéphane Jacquis, Ingenico group product management director, said in the release.
