Ingenico Offering Encryption Service

Ingenico S.A., a France-based point-of-sale terminal maker, says it now offers the Ingenico On-Guard service that encrypts cardholder data from the transaction terminal to the merchant host. Ingenico software on the merchant host's computer system decrypts the data so it can complete the transaction. The service also uses secure card-reader technology from MagTek Inc., a Seal Beach, Calif.-based card reader and security company. Ingenico says merchants can download remotely the On-Guard software to a payment terminal. Ingenico says the service is available only in North America because that is where customers are asking for the service, an Ingenico spokesperson tells CardLine.
