Ingenico, Toshiba partner for grocery checkout

Ingenico Group has agreed to collaborate with Toshiba to expand payment types at the point of sale in grocery, pharmacy and other multi-lane environments.

Through the partnership, Ingenico aims to ensure its payment terminals are adaptable for a range of evolving payment types by leveraging Toshiba's software and systems integration services, the companies said in a Thursday press release.

Toshiba will work with Ingenico to support EMV, NFC, Apple Pay, Google Pay and EBT smart cards and maintain support over the life cycle of the terminals, according to the release.

"We're committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation as consumer preference and technology evolve," said Steve Markham, senior vice president of strategy and portfolio at Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, in the release.
