ItzCash Card Pvt. Ltd. has partnered with India-based travel portal AkbarTravelsOnline.com to create an air-travel site called Itzicwtravel.in, a spokesperson for Essel group, operator of the multi-service prepaid cash card, tells PaymentsSource.
“The portal is dedicated exclusively to air ticket booking only,” he says. “It was launched two weeks back with limited marketing, and during this period it attracted an average of 100,000 transactions per day.”
The portal will accept only proprietary ItzCash cards for payment via the portal, which the company set up for the growing number of consumers wanting to book flights but who do not have credit cards for booking online, according to the spokesperson.
The company will be appointing franchisees across rural India, where consumers most likely lack access to payment cards, the spokesperson adds. Customers would be able to come to franchisee outlets to book tickets with their ItzCash cards.
The ItzCash Card is a scratch-off card with an account number and password for online and mobile-payment transactions. It is available in various denominations ranging from 750 rupees ($US17 or 13 euros) to 9,000 rupees.
Users may recharge the card at any of the company’s more than 1000 outlets countrywide by paying in cash or online using a credit or debit card.
