Payments processor and technology provider Jack Henry & Associates Inc. has expanded the processing relationship between its iPay Technologies division and MasterCard Worldwide’s RPPS electronic bill-payment network, the companies announced Sept. 20.

Under the agreement, iPay is making its biller connections available to bill-payment originators that use the RPPS service, enabling them to eliminate a significant volume of checks they mail to those billers, the companies said in a press release. The processing relationship will enable more than 1,500 local and regional billers in verticals spanning utilities, consumer lending, telecommunications and municipalities to now receive consumer bill payments electronically.

“Teaming with MasterCard RPPS allows more consumers to have access to iPay’s vast array of biller relationships, thereby enabling both organizations to capitalize on opportunities for extending the scope of electronic payments and their inherent benefits,” Greg Adelson, iPay Technologies group president, said in the release.

More than 40 million households pay bills via online and mobile banking, Gidget Hall, MasterCard senior vice president and group head of bill payment and RPPS, said in the release.
