PBI Bank has signed an agreement with the Allpoint surcharge-free ATM network, expanding the number of ATMs the Louisville, Ky.-based bank's customers can access for free. The agreement also enables PBI to compete better with national banks that have opened branches in Kentucky, Maria L. Bouvette, the bank's president and CEO, said in a statement. PBI is Kentucky's third-largest bank, with 18 locations and an equal number of ATMs. Customers now have surcharge-free access to 200 ATMs in the state, 35,000 nationwide and 2,500 in the United Kingdom, Ben Psillas, Allpoint president, tells ATM&Debit News, a CardLine sister publication. As is the case with all of Allpoint's contracts with banks, PBI's own ATMs do not participate in the surcharge-free network, Psillas says. Four vendors, which Psillas declined to name, build ATMs for the network, and Allpoint deploys the machines, he adds. PBI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Porter Bancorp Inc. Allpoint is owned by Bethesda, Md.-based ATM independent sales organization Cardtronics Inc.
