Lloyds TSB Adds Mobile Funds Transfer Service

IMGCAP(1)]

Lloyds TSB Group PLC is adding a mobile funds transfer feature to its mobile-banking services, the company announced Wednesday. The service enables customers to transfer money between their eligible Lloyds TSB accounts, which include current accounts and most instant-access savings accounts. The bank says in a statement it is introducing the service, which will launch next month, because of consumer demand. A survey conducted by London-based ICM Research found 53% of respondents want to actively move money between accounts, according to Lloyds. The bank also introduced an overseas transaction alert. Subscribers will receive an alert if their debit card is used to withdraw cash from a cashpoint or to make a purchase abroad, the statement says. The funds transfer service costs £2.50 (US$4.63 or 3.15 euros), but is free to students until October 2009.
